adidas and the Scotland National Football team have today unveiled a mural paying tribute to one of the greatest ever Scotland goals – Scott McTominay’s iconic overhead kick against Denmark. The 36ft tall artwork has been erected outside Barclays Hampden, ahead of Scotland’s return to the National Stadium next month.
The giant artwork, commissioned by adidas, was painted by Global Street Art, and is located on Somerville Drive, towering over Lesser Hampden and facing towards the West Stand of Barclays Hampden.
McTominay’s iconic acrobatic effort gave Scotland a third-minute lead against Danes, sending Scotland on the way towards a return to the FIFA World Cup after a 28-year wait.
Lawrence Shankland, Kieran Tierney and Kenny McLean were also on target in November, on a night of spectacular goals that no-one in Scotland will ever forget.
Napoli midfielder McTominay has been an instrumental figure for Scotland since his debut in 2018, scoring 14 goals and winning 67 caps, while playing his part in the nation’s qualification for back-to-back European Championships in 2021 and 2024.
McTominay and his teammates are back in action in Mount Florida next month as they face Japan in Scotland’s first warm-up match ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup 2026 in Canada, Mexico and USA.
