As Henry Cavill was revealed to be helming the development of the upcoming Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe, fans couldn’t help but notice the star’s career starting to resemble that of Tom Cruise’s.
More specifically, Cruise’s career with the Mission: Impossible franchise has been the image of reference for many to compare with each other, and it seems to be an exceptional match. Thus, here’s more information on how Cavill is at his career’s ‘Tom Cruise’ stage.

The story of Cruise with the iconic Mission: Impossible franchise started when he was fresh off the back of another critical success, but a box office letdown in the form of Interview with the Vampire. So far, his hit-flop ratio had been more bleak than shining on the commercial scale.
His stint as a bona fide Hollywood star lacked the consistency of a project that would define who he was. This was when the first film of the series was released, and with the response of the fans, the box office numbers, and sequels being greenlit left and right, the popularity grew.
Thus, Cruise ran with this franchise until the final film, which was Mission: Impossible- Final Reckoning. And now, Cavill’s career is seeing a similar trajectory being followed. After facing problems with several high-profile roles and projects like the DCEU and Netflix’s The Witcher series, it seems like Hollywood is reluctant to feature Cavill anymore.

Thankfully, the star’s defining career project is now in development with the Warhammer 40,000 cinematic universe at Amazon. The negatives may be on a much higher degree than Cruise’s, but the type of passion and creativity that the Top Gun star had for the Mission: Impossible series is what Cavill possesses for the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.
Both stars share a love for what they build with their own hands, and just like Cruise put out bangers through this cinematic series, Cavill is being eyed to follow in his footsteps in the future.
How Long Before Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Franchise Bears Fruit

The simple answer to this question is to just wait and watch, as Games Workshop and Amazon themselves have confirmed that these visionary franchises take time to become reality. And with the web of contracts that Cavill’s under, he can’t speak too in-depth about it either.
But at the same time, the development of the cinematic universe doesn’t seem to be completing anytime soon, as the star has also revealed that all his attention is on the Highlander reboot film he’s working on. Thus, even the initial stages might have to wait a little bit longer before Cavill returns.

An official release date for the Warhammer 40,000 live-action series is yet to be announced, but we can expect it to be released on Prime Video in mid-2027/early 2028.
