The richest man in the world stated that he agrees with most of the policies of President Donald Trump’s team, but there are still some “differences in opinion” between them.

Nhà Trắng cảm ơn Elon Musk

Billionaire Elon Musk, who announced his departure from the White House on May 28, said he disagreed with the Trump administration over his oversight of the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“I find it hard to talk about this in an interview because it’s controversial. I feel trapped, I don’t want to speak out against the administration, but I also don’t want to be responsible for everything the administration is doing. You know, I’m kind of stuck,” Musk said in an interview with CBS News, conducted before he announced he was stepping down as DOGE’s leader and no longer serving as a “special government employee” in the Trump administration. The billionaire’s full interview will be published on June 1.

Musk pointed out that he mostly agreed with the Trump team’s policies, but they “had different views.”

Musk has previously criticized the comprehensive spending bill proposed by President Trump. “Frankly, I am disappointed to see this massive spending bill, which not only increases the deficit but also undermines the work that DOGE is doing,” Musk said in an interview on May 27.

On May 28, the billionaire wrote on social media site X that “his term as a special government employee has ended.” At the same time, he expressed confidence that DOGE will continue to work in the future.

In April, the businessman announced that he would be less involved in politics starting in May. The announcement came after Tesla recorded a 71% drop in net income in the first quarter of 2025 compared to last year. Analysts say the decline in revenue is partly due to Mr. Musk’s political activities in the Trump administration.
