Emmy Russell, granddaughter of Loretta Lynn and former American Idol contestant, and her husband, Tyler Ward, are asking for prayers amid a health scare involving their young daughter, Taylor Raydiant Ward.
The couple took to social media on Sunday (July 20) to share details with their followers after their daughter was admitted to the hospital. In the clip, Emmy Russell and Tyler Ward are seen in what appears to be a hospital waiting room, whispering as they filmed an update video for fans about their baby girl’s condition.
Tyler began to explain, “These last few days have been interesting for us. We’ve noticed that little Taylor has had some seizures, and we took her to the hospital today, and we know that in these moments, we really do believe in the power of prayer. And so we’re just asking you to come alongside us in this moment.”
Emmy then added, “She’s doing her EEG. So just pray for like normal brain waves. She’s been having these spasms, kind of just like she’s falling almost… they were just really concerned about it and wanted to do some… checking how our brain is and everything. So pray for answers, because I really want answers.”
In the post’s caption, Emmy Russell and Tyler Ward shared more details about their daughter’s condition, explaining that Taylor had been “fussy and crying for the last few days, and we assumed it was teething.” However, on Sunday morning (July 21), Tyler noticed that their daughter was experiencing “small spasms.”
“We filmed it and rushed to the doctor. They confirmed it could be small seizures and asked us to stay overnight for testing. It’s a different kind of hard right now. We’re asking for your prayers, we truly believe they could make all the difference tonight,” the joint post was captioned.

One day later, on Monday (July 21), the couple returned to social media to share an update on their baby girl’s condition.
“Alright, y’all, thank you for your prayers for Taylor. She did spasm this morning. She has the EEG, so we will see what her results are and next steps. The neurologist should be coming in very soon. Please continue to pray,” the joint post read.
The update post was captioned, “Please pray for our sweet Taylor Raydiant… If you have the time, pray for 30 seconds, just a moment for sweet girl. I have the song for 30 seconds. I had felt in my spirit that Taylor is radiant when I found out I was pregnant… that’s why her middle name is radiant. Please speak life over her with me.”
Emmy and Tyler concluded the post with a scripture from Psalm 34:5 that read, “‘Those who look to him are radiant with joy; their faces will never be ashamed.’”
Emmy Russell and Tyler Ward welcomed their daughter, Taylor Raydiant, on Friday, January 31, after experiencing a difficult 36-hour labor and losing 1.6 liters of blood. Since then, Emmy and her daughter have been happy and healthy.
“My labor was long, but it was worth it. I remember looking at her, and she immediately had…her eyes were wide open, they sat her on me, and she just looked at me, she knew I was her mom, and I just looked at her and like, ugh, it makes me cry still,” Russell told PEOPLE at the time. “I was really out of it because I was losing so much blood, and so I wasn’t really able to lift her my entire time at the hospital. But every time that I did get the chance to…that’s your child, it just melts your heart. I didn’t really know that kind of love existed.”
According to PEOPLE, the couple secretly tied the knot in 2024 during a small, last-minute, intimate ceremony held in the comfort of a living room.
“Emmy and I had been together for a while, and her heart was just like, ‘I want to be married.’ And then I’m like, ‘I don’t think I’ll ever be married,’” Tyler Ward admitted to the outlet at the time. “And then you think about losing someone that you become best friends with and tight with, and you’re like, ‘Maybe that’s what it is. Maybe that’s what marriage is. It’s just like, I don’t want this person out of my life.’”
