Kane Brown Quits Tobacco and Alcohol, Drops Over 24 Pounds in Remarkable Health Transformation
“Once I realized how tough it was, I didn’t want to put anything bad back in my body,” he reflected.

Kane Brown has been on a serious fitness journey over the past year, and he further opened up about his physical transformation during a recent interview with PEOPLE, sharing that not only was what he put in his body important, he also saw changes after deciding to stop certain habits.
Brown shared that he began his journey with a New Year’s resolution to give up ZYN Nicotine Pouches, which he had been using for years after he started dipping tobacco in high school. “It’s a nasty habit. My wife wanted me to quit for the longest,” the singer said of his wife, Katelyn, who he called “a healthy, happy person.”
“She broke me out of a lot of my bad habits. I think she’s happier with how I am now,” Brown admitted.
He also stopped drinking alcohol, which he had become something that helped him loosen up while he was on stage. “I’m an introvert, so onstage, alcohol would take me out of my shell,” Brown explained. “Now, if I do drink it, it messes my throat up and I don’t like it. I don’t drink at all anymore, and I like it that way.”

Brown’s transformation kicked into high gear during his The High Road Tour, which ran from March to July of this year. He and his bandmates did a liquid fast in April, and Brown says the group “saw progress quickly.” “Once I realized how tough it was, I didn’t want to put anything bad back in my body,” he reflected.
So he went a step further, hiring a coach to help him with his fitness and nutrition, changing his tour rider and working out for two hours each day. “I love running. I didn’t know I liked it until recently, but it’s fun,” he said, noting that his new habits have really stuck. “The other day when I was on the golf course, I ate a Snickers. I almost smacked myself.”
Brown has lost 24 pounds and has a body fat percentage in the single digits, though the star hasn’t decided on his end goal for his physique.
“I don’t think I really know my goal until I get there,” he said. “Some days I want to look like a plastic toy soldier, and other times I’m like, ‘I don’t want to be too big.’ I just want to look like that mannequin you saw in science class. I just want to look like that.”
The singer/songwriter, who has been open with fans about his mental health, shared that before he began his fitness journey this year, he was feeling “worthless” and had “really dark thoughts.” “I wanted to be in a corner left alone,” he said.
“I knew I needed to make a change. I needed something that was going to change my headspace,” Brown decided. “I didn’t feel there was anything better than changing the way I look.”
He succeeded with that goal, sharing that “getting in shape changed my mindset.” “I feel like I’m restarting my youth,” he said. “I love everything it’s done to me, from the way I look to my mental state. I want to give everything 100% now. And if I’m having a stressful day, I can find good things about life and about being here.”
