Riley Green, Ella Langley Strike Platinum a Second Time With “Don’t Mind If I Do”
Country music fans still can’t get enough of Riley Green and Ella Langley. The Alabama duo captured hearts in summer 2024 with their chart-topping duet, “You Look Like You Love Me.” The cheeky, Old West saloon-inspired number won multiple country music awards and catapulted Green, 36, and Langley, 26, into Nashville stardom. And now, it appears the two have done it again as their second collaboration goes platinum.
This Marks Second Platinum Duet for Riley Green and Ella Langley
According to multiple online accounts, Riley Green and Ella Langley’s “Don’t Mind If I Do” has earned a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. This means the title track from Green’s third studio album has garnered 1 million units. (While digital and physical albums both count as one “unit” per sale, the RIAA requires 10 permanent track downloads and 1,500 on-demand video or audio streams for the same amount.)
This marks the second such achievement for the duo, as “You Look Like You Love Me” has reached the same milestone two times over.
How It Happened
Riley Green and Ella Langley changed their tune for “Don’t Mind If I Do,” offering a wistful look back at a romance gone wrong. Green has said that their second collaboration happened “organically” while they were on the road together.
“I just asked Ella to come by the studio and sing it, to get a female’s vocal on it,” the “Worst Way” crooner told Holler.
Initially planning to use the “Weren’t For The Wind” songstress’ vocals as a reference point, Green soon realized “she did such a great job, we just didn’t think anybody could sing it better than she did.”
For Langley, a strong bond between the two helped. “I’ve done a few duets at this point and some feature stuff, and really, for me, it’s the relationship, the connection. It’s somebody I want to create with, you know? It’s fun,” she said. “That’s the whole joy of living where we live, and getting to do what we get to do. We are surrounded by people who love to do the same thing.”
