Beyoncé Stops Her Show In Texas When The Car She’s Flying In Malfunctions & Tilts Sideways During “16 Carriages”

A scary moment.
Beyoncé is on the road for her Cowboy Carter tour, which kicked off last month in Los Angeles in support of her latest “country inspired” album released last year.
And it’s already been a rough start.
The tour was long-anticipated by her fans, and came on the heels of the pop superstar cleaning up at the Grammy Awards earlier this year. Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter scored 11 nominations including “Best Country Album” and “Album of the Year.” The 43-year-old artist ended up taking home both of those awards, along with Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “II Most Wanted” with Miley Cyrus, bringing Beyoncé’s lifetime Grammy Award total up to 35 – the most of any artist in history.
But after tickets went on sale for the tour, there were rumors that Bey was having trouble selling tickets, with fans complaining about the low resale price for tickets after paying big bucks to get them when they first went on sale. In fact, just days before the tour kicked off at SoFi Stadium in California, tickets were going for as low as $20 or $30 – a far cry from the hundreds of dollars that they originally cost.
And she found herself in some legal hot water after the owner of the Las Vegas Sphere had sent Beyoncé a cease and desist letter over a graphic in a video shown during her tour, forcing Beyoncé to make changes to the video.
Last night, though, Beyoncé was forced to stop the show after an equipment malfunction left fans (and likely Beyoncé herself) holding their breath.
Bey was performing at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, the first of two hometown shows. And during “16 CARRIAGES,” she hopped in a red Cadillac convertible and was flown around the stadium, as she’s done during all of her shows on the tour.
But this time, something went wrong. The car began to tilt massively to one side as Beyoncé held on to the wire, and eventually appeared to come to a stop before she finally stopped singing and brought the show to a halt.
This angle shows just how much the car was really leaning:
Video shows the car being lowered to the ground with frantic crew waiting below to get her down, and she finally stepped out and was walked back to the stage to finish the song, telling the crowd:
“I want to thank y’all for loving me. If ever I fall, I know y’all will catch me.”
Probably don’t want to have to put that one to the test though.
Luckily everything worked out fine, but something tells me more changes are coming to the tour after the latest malfunction.
